About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to provide high-level supervision and operational oversight for dining locations, transitioning based on the university's academic calendar. During the academic year, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and managing retail dining locations (such as the Discovery Café), ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient transaction handling. During the summer months, the focus shifts to supporting residential dining operations, overseeing meal service, sanitation, and staff coordination to meet the needs of summer conferences and campus residents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of dining areas
- Monitor and manage retail dining locations
- Ensure exceptional customer service and efficient transaction handling
- Oversee meal service, sanitation, and staff coordination during summer months
- Support residential dining operations
- Manage inventory and ordering processes
- Train and supervise staff
- Conduct daily inspections of dining facilities
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail experience
- Previous cash handling experience
- Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
- Basic math skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to monitor multiple tasks concurrently
- Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule
Qualifications
- ServSafe Certified
- Previous experience as host/hostess of a restaurant or dining room
- Supervisory experience
- Previous experience in preparing dining areas for meal service
- Previous experience at a college/university

Pay
$34,277 to $42,268 commensurate with education and experience.
Schedule
