Responsibilities
- Sets up work area at the beginning of the shift.
- Maintains par levels of plate ware, glassware, silverware, condiments, and all other items.
- Carries dirty dishes from dining room to kitchen and from side stations to the dishwashing area.
- Wipes table tops and chairs with sanitized cloth.
- Breaks down all trays of dirty dishes brought from the dining room.
- Inspects all tabletop items for cleanliness before tables are ready to be seated.
- Replenishes supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes in dining room.
- Polishes silverware and glassware.
- Wipes down all coffee machines, iced tea makers, soda nozzles, and countertops during the shift.
- Cleans and polishes shelves, doors of service areas, and equipment such as coffee urns, milk, juice, tea, and soda dispensers.
- Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils; segregates and removes garbage; steam cleans or hoses garbage containers.
- Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Removes all bagged dirty linen and replaces the linen.
- Works well with all other restaurant employees to promote a teamwork-oriented atmosphere.
- Displays an energetic attitude while working with guests and employees.
- Carries out customer service policy at all times.
- Maintains appearance and organization of the back line, ensuring service coolers are cleaned and supplied.
- Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Maintains standards set by management in scraping, racking, stacking, and washing of china, glassware, and silver.
- Informs Supervisor of any items on back line or side stations that require attention.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Uses proper procedures when signing in/out or clocking in/out for shifts and breaks.
- Keeps work area clean and sanitary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to obtain the appropriate work authorization per governmental regulations.
- Ability to work in a drug-free environment and pass a chemical dependency test as required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to walk and climb or balance.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Frequently exposed to cigarette smoke.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
