Digital Web Communications Manager
Hiring range: $82,600–$85,400 annually, based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
About the role
The Digital Web Communications Manager is the primary webmaster for the School of Law. This role manages the law school’s website infrastructure, provides guidance on technical issues, and supports cybersecurity on a daily operational basis. The manager oversees website functionality, evaluates and manages performance, facilitates hosting and server management, and develops, maintains, and updates website content and long-term strategy. Additionally, this role provides event support for the Advancement and Alumni Relations department. Work is performed in close collaboration with Law Digital Media and University Marketing and Communications. The manager supports law school faculty and staff by serving as an expert in university-supported applications and facilitates training related to digital communications.
Responsibilities
- School of Law Website Management
- Serve as primary webmaster for the School of Law website.
- Oversee management, maintenance, and long-term strategy of the website to ensure accuracy, functionality, and alignment with University best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for university QA/accessibility tools, tracking and resolving web issues such as broken links, misspellings, broken media, and other quality assurance and accessibility concerns.
- Design and develop front-end and back-end web architecture.
- Establish and implement a routine update schedule and manage regular updates and projects with key stakeholders, such as faculty, Deans, and department heads.
- Maintain operational elements of the website.
- Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications on branding and visuals.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director for Digital Media and Associate Director of Marketing & Communications on website content, planning, and implementation of website organization.
- Implement regular updates to department pages and troubleshoot website issues.
- Attend university-wide web meetings and trainings.
- Stay current on industry developments and best practices in website design.
- Collect, analyze, and regularly report on website usage data.
- Web Projects
- Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and organize the law school’s overall website and related department web pages.
- Plan, implement, and manage updates to the law school’s content management systems, website refreshes, redesigns, and/or content migrations.
- Meet with law school partners to develop an annual schedule of digital content projects.
- Assist with the creation of event pages and email templates to complement printed collateral.
- Integrate print publications into a digital format, including the law school’s DISCERN magazine, print marketing material, advancement & admissions viewbook.
- Serve as the point of contact to regularly communicate content development and publishing schedules and updates.
- Develop and facilitate user feedback and research to support ongoing improvements to website navigation, architecture, and interface, as well as the overall user experience.
- Manage the Kasner website.
- Cybersecurity
- Collaborate with the law school’s information services team to ensure proper cybersecurity.
- Identify and respond to all law school website security breaches.
- Ensure the law school’s website is protected by exploring and enabling appropriate security measures.
- Application Training and Expertise
- Facilitate training for the web working group on Terminal4 (T4) usage and provide timely updates on T4 functionality.
- Become an expert in single sign-on systems (SSO) for the law school, such as Terminal4 (T4), calendaring system (Live Whale), and data collection (Qualtrics).
- Provide support to faculty and staff on Terminal4 (T4), calendaring system (Live Whale), and data collection (Qualtrics).
- Facilitate training on Terminal4 (T4), calendaring system (Live Whale), and data collection (Qualtrics) for law school users.
- Act as the law school liaison with the university on meetings, updates, and training opportunities related to digital technologies.
- Supervise student assistants.
- Advancement and Alumni Relations Event Support
- Pre-Event & Planning Duties
- Consult with event organizers and presenters to determine technical requirements, layouts, and presentation needs.
- Coordinate with external AV suppliers, content creators, and internal production teams; schedule and supervise on-site technicians and crew members.
- Assist in creating and managing the AV event budget, track expenses, and coordinate equipment rentals or purchases.
- Review venue spaces and design layouts for optimal sound, lighting, and video displays.
- Schedule and conduct equipment checks, dry runs, and dress rehearsals to ensure flawless program execution.
- On-Site Execution & Live Support
- Provide comprehensive AV, video conferencing, and live streaming support during meetings, conferences, and large-scale events.
- Manage hardware and software including audio consoles, production video switchers, PTZ camera systems, lighting controllers, and microphones.
- Run and moderate virtual event platforms (e.g., Zoom Webinars, WebEx) to guarantee seamless interaction for remote attendees.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues (e.g., audio feedback, lost signals, equipment malfunctions) quickly and discreetly under high-pressure conditions.
- Support presenters and performers, assist stage managers, and coordinate with event planners to adapt to schedule or script changes.
- Post-Event & Operational Duties
- Oversee the safe breakdown, coiling, packing, and secure storage of all AV equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, update equipment firmware, and manage inventory logs to track wear-and-tear.
- Handle post-event tasks such as video editing, file encoding, and media distribution to stakeholders.
- Conduct post-event debriefs with the team to identify areas for future improvement.

Requirements
- Knowledge
- Experience in university operations preferred.
- Experience in Content Management Systems (T4) or website management preferred.
- Knowledge of PC and Mac, including Microsoft Office suite and Google Apps; willingness to learn and master new software.
- Experience with T4, Qualtrics, and Live Whale preferred.

- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- At least three years of relevant experience is required.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal. The role requires travel to other buildings and offices on campus, attendance at conferences and training sessions locally and out-of-state, and occasional night and weekend work in support of enrollment or academic activities.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a typical office setting, mostly indoors with windows, and occasional exposure to equipment noise and outdoor events. Offices may have frequent interruptions. Employees approved to telecommute must perform their work within California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, or Illinois.
Pay
