The Office of Communications handles strategic communications, media relations, branding, websites, social media, marketing and public relations for the Law School.
Your Role on the Team
The Digital Communications Manager works in the UC Irvine Law Communications Office, under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Communications, to implement web and social media strategies for the Law School by focusing on content development, brand enhancement and functionality implementation and maintenance. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that UC Irvine Law's digital content - including web, social media, graphics, photography, video and other emerging communication technologies - advance institutional goals and align with the brand. The Digital Communications Manager consults with administrative leaders and other professionals to develop strategies, programs, plans, metrics and content related to digital platforms. The Digital Communications Manager serves as a project manager for the completion of websites and webpages, and digital content campaigns on social media channels, ensuring that assets are effective, timely, accurate and on brand. This position plans, researches, writes and manages updates to content for the UC Irvine Law website and social media channels for all audience segments. Additionally, this position oversees the school's web content and any webpages that become an institutional priority, working closely with the UC Irvine Law IT team and web designer to plan and execute high-impact, accessible and dynamic web content. This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and departments, and the ability and drive to create high-quality work in a variety of mediums.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of modern web and digital platforms
- Strong understanding of modern content strategy definition and execution
- Strong knowledge of web/digital best practices, including usability, accessibility, and mobile/responsive web
- Demonstrated social media platform fluency as part of a business strategy
- Deep knowledge of web content management systems, such as WordPress and Cascade
- Familiarity with social media management tools (i.e. Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
- Strong knowledge of website and social media analytics tools
- Demonstrated understanding of search engine optimization (SEO)/generative engine optimization (GEO)
- Proficiency in relevant software, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in Constant Contact, Canva, and other graphics, video and email tools
- Proficiency in photography and videography
- Ability to learn new programs and adapt to new technologies quickly
- Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, best practices in communications, and brand management
- Exceptionally skilled at project management and multitasking
- Thorough interpersonal communication skills
- Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and have strong prioritization skills
- Excellent written communication skills and an exacting knowledge of grammar and AP style
- Ability to work as part of a team effectively
- Advanced understanding of strategic marketing, branding, promotion and public relations
- Strong eye for design and digital storytelling
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in social media content production and website management
- Experience managing multiple communications projects simultaneously

- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, English, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, media relations, or higher education communications
Qualifications
- Experience in communications within higher education, law schools, legal organizations, or nonprofit institutions
- Familiarity with legal scholarship and legal education
- Experience using content management systems and email marketing platforms
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or similar design tools
Pay
The expected pay range for this recruitment is $79,200.00 - $90,000.00 (Annual).
