Primary Essential Functions And Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive editorial calendar that aligns digital content with organizational priorities, campaigns, and key dates.
  • Cook up and execute a cohesive content plan with cross-functional partners across programs, external affairs, and leadership to ensure timely and coordinated content.
  • Anticipate and plan around awareness months and advocacy moments relevant to Heartshare's mission.
  • Manage Heartshare's presence across social media platforms, including content creation (both copy and design), scheduling, community engagement, and platform monitoring.
  • Develop platform-specific content strategies that grow the agency’s audience, increase engagement, and advance organizational goals.
  • Stay current on platform trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to continuously optimize performance.
  • Oversee Heartshare's blog, including editorial planning, content sourcing, writing, editing, and publishing.
  • Collaborate with program staff, leadership, and community members to develop stories that illustrate Heartshare's impact.
  • Ensure blog content is optimized for SEO and aligned with the organization's broader content strategy.
  • Plan for and coordinate photography and videography needs for Heartshare events, programs, and campaigns.
  • Produce, edit, and manage photo and video content, both as a hands-on creator and as a coordinator of external vendors for use across digital platforms, publications, and donor communications.
  • Absorb media release/consent processes and ensure ethical, consent-based practices in all visual documentation of the people Heartshare supports.
  • Track, analyze, and report on digital performance metrics across social media, web, email, and other channels.
  • Prepare regular analytics reports with actionable insights and recommendations for the VP of Strategic Communications.
  • Use data to inform content decisions and continuously improve digital engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Required: 3+ years of experience in digital communications, social media management, or a related role; nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing organizational social media accounts across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and others.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience producing online content.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.
  • Hands-on experience with photography and video production and editing; proficiency with tools such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • A commitment to Heartshare's mission and sensitivity to the communities and individuals represented in our content.
