About the role
A leading financial institution is seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking attorney to join its Legal team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of financial services, advising on emerging technologies and shaping the future of digital banking. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across business, technology, risk, and compliance to enable responsible innovation across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, practical, and business-oriented legal advice on innovative financial products and services
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to:
- Artificial intelligence
- Digital assets
- Digital banking platforms
- Open banking
- Payments and fintech partnerships
- Analyze and apply evolving laws, regulations, and industry guidance to new and existing offerings
- Support product development by translating legal requirements into actionable business solutions
- Partner with stakeholders to identify legal risks and align with organizational risk appetite
- Contribute to negotiations, conflict resolution, and strategic decision-making
- Help shape legal frameworks supporting innovation initiatives
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission (in good standing)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of banking or financial services operations
Skills
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to simplify complex legal concepts into practical guidance
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High integrity and sound judgment
Preferred Experience
- Experience advising financial institutions in-house or at a law firm
- Familiarity with commercial or retail banking laws and regulations
- Exposure to emerging technologies and novel financial use cases
