Dietary Manager

Principal Responsibilities

• Planner, director, controller, and supervisor of nutrition service within the dietary department.
• Safely and efficiently provides nutritionally appropriate food to residents.
• Maintain and enhance residents' overall health through quality food service and nutrition care.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Purchases food and supplies through DSSI and coordinates with the purchasing department.
• Plans department budget and supplies monthly reports to the administrator.
• Communicates with various departments and staff regarding food service and resident nutrition care.
• Develops and utilizes a referral system for the registered dietitian.
• Visits residents regarding menus, food service, food preferences, and dietary restrictions.
• Trains staff on proper use of dietary equipment and oversees its maintenance.
• Completes assigned MDS sections according to required timelines.

Qualifications

• Must be certified within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in long-term care or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using electronic systems for resident food, nutrition, and dining information.
