Principal Responsibilities
- Planner, director, controller, and supervisor of nutrition service within the dietary department.
- Safely and efficiently provides nutritionally appropriate food to residents.
- Maintain and enhance residents' overall health through quality food service and nutrition care.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Purchases food and supplies through DSSI and coordinates with the purchasing department.
- Plans department budget and supplies monthly reports to the administrator.
- Communicates with various departments and staff regarding food service and resident nutrition care.
- Develops and utilizes a referral system for the registered dietitian.
- Visits residents regarding menus, food service, food preferences, and dietary restrictions.
- Trains staff on proper use of dietary equipment and oversees its maintenance.
- Completes assigned MDS sections according to required timelines.
Qualifications
- Must be certified within 12 months of hire.
- Experience in long-term care or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic systems for resident food, nutrition, and dining information.
