About the role

The Dietary Services Manager oversees all foodservice and nutrition-related activities, including patient and non-patient care, quality improvement, sanitation, infection control, and hospital-wide dietary operations. This role ensures patient and customer satisfaction while maintaining cost-effective management. The manager fosters interdepartmental collaboration, maintains an organized and sanitary environment, monitors supply inventory, and oversees purchasing and storage of food and supplies. Additionally, the Dietary Services Manager directly supervises the hospital’s clinical nutrition program, including staffing Registered Dietitian(s), ensuring regulatory compliance for nutritional assessments, and upholding standards of care in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a leadership role alongside other department leaders.
• Develop and execute menu cycles to meet organizational needs, offering varied food and meal options to accommodate dietary preferences and therapeutic diets.
• Provide technical expertise in menu customization to meet specific nutritional needs.
• Ensure patient and customer satisfaction across all aspects of the Dietary Department.
• Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs and trainings to maintain a clean and safe department.
• Comply with established regulatory measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and risk management.
• Meet JCAHO, CMS, and WA DOH standards.
• Demonstrate cost-effective management practices.
• Lead the Dietary team to maximize workflow and contributions; coach employees to establish universal expectations and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics from an accredited college or university (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of three (3) years of dietary experience in a healthcare facility, with a focus on nutrition assessment and planning.
• Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietitian in Washington State.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid, Handle with Care, and Verbal De-Escalation certifications provided by the facility upon hire.
