Dietary Manager

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with some flexibility required based on department needs.

About the role

As the Dietary Manager, you will oversee the full operation of the hospital’s Dietary Department, ensuring patients and staff receive nutritious meals prepared in a safe, sanitary, and efficient environment. You will lead the kitchen team, manage purchasing and inventory, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality food services across the facility.

In this leadership role, you will supervise dietary staff, coordinate daily food production, maintain sanitation standards, and ensure compliance with hospital, regulatory, and food safety guidelines including Joint Commission and CMS standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the kitchen and dining areas
• Supervise the preparation and service of meals according to approved menus and production schedules
• Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate dietary staff including cooks and dietary aides
• Ensure all food service operations meet federal, state, and hospital sanitation standards
• Manage purchasing, receiving, storage, and utilization of food and supplies
• Monitor refrigerators, freezers, and food storage areas to ensure proper labeling, rotation, and safety
• Develop menus and coordinate special dietary needs with the dietitian
• Plan meals for special events, meetings, and hospital functions
• Support positive working relationships within the department and across the facility

Requirements

• Culinary degree or related discipline preferred; relevant experience and technical abilities will be considered
• At least five years’ experience in quantity cooking and a basic knowledge of modified diets
• Training in dietary sanitation and possession of a food service food handler’s permit required
• Experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils preferred
• Three years’ kitchen supervisory experience helpful
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours
• Spanish speaking preferred

Pay

Expected compensation range for this full-time role is $50,000.00–$70,000.00 annually. Consideration will be provided based on experience and skill level.
