Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, production schedules, and resident dietary requirements.
- Review daily menus and ensure meals are prepared accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare large quantities of food while maintaining excellent taste, quality, and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with therapeutic, mechanical, and special diet orders.
- Inspect meal trays to verify residents receive the correct prescribed diets.
- Process new diet orders and dietary changes received from Nursing Services.
- Maintain accurate food production records, temperature logs, and required documentation.
- Work closely with the Registered Dietitian to implement dietary recommendations and menu modifications.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, equipment, and work areas.
- Assist with meal service and ensure food is delivered on schedule.
- Participate in routine inspections to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the Food Services team and other departments to provide exceptional resident care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Food Service Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Dietary Cook experience in a nursing home, rehabilitation center, or hospital required.
- Experience preparing meals in large quantities.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food preparation techniques, sanitation practices, and food safety regulations.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing outstanding service.
- Willingness to learn and continuously improve food service practices.
