Diet Control Assistant
About The Role
The primary purpose of the Diet Control Assistant position is to provide infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with quality Food & Nutrition services, operational information; and serves as the liaison between the patient care unit(s) and the Department of Food & Nutrition. Delivers all meals/food items to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in designated patient care unit(s) within specified time frames. Performs in a caring, conscientious and confidential manner toward patients, family members, visitors, colleagues, staff and students. Maintains individual patient care electronic Card files and coordinates interdepartmental communications.
Responsibilities
- Maintains electronic patient card files.
- Modifies menu to comply with diet order prescriptions/meal patterns.
- Formulates patient meal supplements and nourishments.
- Delivers meals and snacks per policy and procedures.
- Retrieves patient meal trays per policy and procedure.
- Utilizes knowledge of growth and development when providing services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Communicates with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in a manner which demonstrates an understanding of the patient’s developmental and cognitive level.
- Calculates production requirements for meals, including tallied items.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- At least one (1) or more years of Food Service, Customer Service, and/or hospitality experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently to perform the duties of the position.
- Effective verbal and written communications.
- Customer service and hospitality-oriented.
- Attention to detail with appropriate follow through.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to establish effective relationships within a multi-cultural environment.
Pay
Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law): In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $19.27 - $20.36.
