Diet Assistant

Job Overview

The Diet Assistant under the direction of the Dietary Department manager is responsible for performing clerical duties related to maintaining menu systems and food services to patients. They also participate in providing other basic nutrition services to patients, performing tray line tasks, and maintaining quality improvement records.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Computer application skills.
• High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
• Prior work experience in a hospitality environment (preferred).

Scheduling Requirements

• Shift: Day
• Per Diem (Based on the needs of the department)

Essential Functions

• Perform checks on the tray line during meal service as needed.
• Collect patient menu selections using BME.
• Distribute and tally paper menus if needed.
• Follow the assigned workflow to ensure adequate time for menu collection and diet office coverage.
• Maintain the computerized system with the current information, as needed.
• Modify therapeutic menus as needed.
• Participate in Quality Improvement collection and reporting as assigned.
• Prepare food production sheets based on menu tallies as required.
• Process diet orders and diet changes using the WFMS computer system.
• Update nourishment, monitor all snack and supplement orders.
