About the role
The Dietary Assistant works alongside the dietary department by supporting patients with their dietary needs, completing food-related projects, providing administrative support to dietitians, supervising patients at meals and snacks, supporting dietitians with running groups and meals, and maintaining menus as directed.
Responsibilities
- Distributes, collects and corrects patient menus weekly
- Updates patient menus and meal plans as directed by Clinical Dietitians
- Meets with patients one-on-one to support with menu completion as needed
- Completes documentation for meal support or groups as required
- Sets up and supports patient meals, snacks and restaurant outings as needed
- Completes projects as directed by members of the Dietary Team
- Shops for groceries and orders food (will vary by location)
- Supports Clinical Dietitians in preparing for nutrition and cooking groups
- Collaborates with Food Service team to ensure all patients' dietary needs are met, including monitoring for food allergens
- Collects and analyzes patient data as related to dietary department
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license is required with a safe driving record
Bonus qualities
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Experience working in the mental health and/or nutrition field (preferred)
