About the role
As a Technician II at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on a well-maintained fleet of vehicles. You’ll help customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road while working independently on major and minor repairs, conducting road tests, and completing maintenance tasks. This role offers the opportunity to work on various types of equipment, mentor new technicians, and grow your skills through training and collaboration with experienced techs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the safety of vehicles for customers
- Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision in a timely manner
- Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and fuel system components
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
- Develop new skills through Penske’s technician training programs
- Work on additional projects and tasks as assigned by a supervisor
- Adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including proper use of tools, PPE, and best safety practices
Requirements
- 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to solve problems and work well as part of a team
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations established by Penske management
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the district (customers’ yards, close geographical area, and training sites), work the required schedule, and work at the specified location
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, accepting responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others
Qualifications
- Completion of Penske employment application, background screening (including criminal checks, past employment, and education), and drug screening
- For driving positions: maintenance of a current driver qualification file, including annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records from prior employers in the last 3 years
- CDL holders: DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
Pay
Competitive starting salary with shift premiums: $3.00 (2nd shift), $4.00 (3rd shift).

Physical Requirements
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
- Routine and daily use of hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, or operate tools and controls
- Safe work at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
- Safe work in all weather conditions
- Ability to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment with frequent movement of large trucks
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg
- Ability to push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds on a regular basis
