Schedule
Wednesday–Saturday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM (four 10-hour shifts)
Pay
Starting rate: $30.00/hr + $2.00 CDL differential (if applicable)
About the role
As a Technician II at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and all levels of repair on a well-maintained fleet. You’ll work independently on major and minor repairs, conduct road tests, complete maintenance tasks, and mentor newer technicians while continuing to develop your own skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure vehicle safety for customers
- Perform preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision
- Repair and troubleshoot engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, and other major systems
- Keep work area clean and safe
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies for diagnostics, repairs, and record-keeping
- Participate in Penske’s technician training to learn new skills
- Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements
- 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
- Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to solve problems and work well as part of a team
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
- Basic computer skills
- Compliance with Penske management instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations
- Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including proper use of PPE and tools
- Regular, predictable, full attendance
- Willingness to travel within the district (customers’ yards, close geographical area, and training sites)
- Completion of Penske employment application, background screening (including criminal, past employment, and education checks), and drug screening
Qualifications
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation and is designated as safety-sensitive. Associates must maintain a constant state of alertness, work safely, and accept responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
- Routine and daily use of hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, or operate tools and controls
- Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
- Ability to work safely in all weather conditions
- Ability to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment with frequent movement of large trucks
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally up to 100 lbs/45 kg
- Ability to push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds on a regular basis
