Main Propulsion
- Operate and maintain Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment
- Perform diesel engine couplings, clutch assemblies, lubricating oil systems, combustion air systems, and power generation diesel engines
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance
- 3 to 5 years of experience operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment
- Direct knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Navy Standard Items, and applicable Naval Ships’ Technical Manuals
- Demonstrated experience performing Navy assessments and inspections
- Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys in accordance with assigned division protocols
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to critical shipboard assessments
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- MS Office suite proficiency required
- Have completed, or ability to complete, Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire
- Able to use clear and concise oral and written communications
- Associate’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field
- Two additional years of specific experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
