Diesel Technician

Pay

Hourly Pay: $26.50 per hour

  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained (up to $700 total)
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
  • Top Tech Competition: earnings ranging from $250 to $50,000 per year
  • Unlimited bonuses up to $1,500 for every hired Diesel Mechanic Technician and Fuel Service Employee

Schedule

Monday – Friday, weekends OFF

Second Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
  • Post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
  • Basic tools (required)
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
  • Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred; must be obtainable within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability to pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor‑vehicle checks (including drug and alcohol verification for the past 3 years)
  • Willingness to undergo additional screening as required by specific customer assignments

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
  • Identify root causes of basic failures and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Provide additional support duties as needed, including Service Island support
