We are seeking a detail-oriented Diesel Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team in Knoxville. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing semi-trucks, trailers, and other company vehicles to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles daily to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is functioning properly.
- Report vehicle defects, damage, or required repairs promptly.
- Couple and uncouple trailers by adjusting trailer jacks, connecting/disconnecting air/electrical lines, and manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
- Inspect trailers after unloading to confirm no damage has occurred.
- Adjust trailer landing gear to safely secure vehicles.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services, including tire repair/replacement, oil changes, lube, and filter replacements.
- Maintain inventory and communicate effectively with team members.
- Utilize manufacturer software systems for diagnostics and repairs.
Requirements
- 1-5 years of experience in diesel mechanics or related field.
- Experience or schooling in diesel engines, hydraulics, chassis/suspension, and welding/metal fabrication.
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service excellence.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle tools and equipment.
- Regular talking and hearing to communicate with team members.
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Work environment may be loud.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM (flexible hours).
Pay
Hourly salary: $28 - $30.
