Diesel Technician

Ryder is hiring a Diesel Technician in Richmond, VA, offering a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Pay

• Hourly Pay: $24.00 per hour
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Unlimited referral bonuses up to $1,500 for each hired Diesel Mechanic Technician or Fuel Service Employee

Schedule

• Monday – Friday, weekends off
• First Shift: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Basic tools (required)
• One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including 3‑year drug/alcohol verification)
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively, work shift work/weekends as required, perform entry‑level tasks, and demonstrate mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of computers and ability to apply that knowledge
• Some experience in transportation maintenance (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle maintenance
• Identify components and conduct minor repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance with training and support
• Carry out facility maintenance duties
• Execute all entry‑level tasks
• Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Perform other related duties as assigned
