Diesel Technician

Location: Liverpool, NY 13088 (also domiciled in Syracuse, East Syracuse, Fulton). Full-time, regular employment with 0–10% travel. Posted 10/23/2026; Requisition 2026-214017.

Pay

• Hourly rate: $43.00/hour
• Certification bonus: $100 per new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 total
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)
• Sign-on bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, first shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic hand tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
  • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Diagnostics and repairs (A/C, electrical systems)
  • Advanced skilled repairs: major engine repairs, diesel after-treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs (required)
• Four (4) or more years of relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid CDL Class A (preferred)
• All certifications required by location (required)
• Ability to perform all T3 tasks
• Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency (PC, Windows, mouse)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Availability for shift work, weekends, and on-call duty as required
• ASE certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic (preferred)
• Proficiency with shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
• Minimum tool requirement met
• Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence other technicians
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
• Must pass: Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

Responsibilities

• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
• Complete all required OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
• Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required by location fleet mix
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties:
  • Standard vehicle maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Complex repairs with minimal or no support
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers/software
  • Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to resolve roadside breakdowns
  • Facility maintenance duties
