Diesel Technician

DATTCO currently has a full-time Diesel Technician opening in our School Bus Fleet Maintenance department. Founded in 1924, DATTCO is a third-generation, family-owned transportation company and now New England’s largest private passenger transportation company. Our School Bus Division consists of a fleet of over 1,000 buses, transporting over 140,000 students in 30 school districts throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of vehicles.
• Perform diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles.
• Complete required paperwork with regards to repair orders and parts usage.
• Make road calls.
• Own and maintain the proper hand tools to perform job functions.
• Follow orders of the shop foreman or other supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma, trade school or equivalent.
• Minimum of one-year experience in the field of automotive, truck or bus repair.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Driver’s license.
• Possess the physical strength to safely perform all required tasks.
