Diesel Technician
Job Summary

About the role
This role involves completing repairs and rebuilding on engine products in a service workshop under supervision. It also includes performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
Responsibilities
- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
Requirements
- Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
- Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
- Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources
- Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level
- Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts
- Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
Qualifications
- Heavy duty refrigeration (EPA 609), heavy truck and industrial refrigeration (EPA 609)
- Heavy duty chassis and suspension experience
- Heavy duty trailer maintenance experience
Skills
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
- Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
