About the role
This role supports safe, reliable operations by performing advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and major equipment repairs with minimal supervision while helping mentor junior technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and post-trip inspections on fleet and industrial equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including complete engine overhauls and major component replacements.
- Complete differential, transmission, driveline, and suspension repairs on a variety of equipment.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and specialty operating systems.
- Perform advanced electrical diagnostics and repairs on equipment and vehicle systems.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection documentation, and repair reports.
- Support safe shop operations by following company safety procedures and proper equipment handling practices.
- Assist with maintaining parts inventory, tools, and shop organization.
- Travel temporarily to field locations as needed to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment onsite.
- Operate shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices safely and effectively.
- Mentor and assist lower-level mechanics with troubleshooting, repair procedures, and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Perform additional maintenance and repair duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school education preferred; diesel or technical school training is a plus.
- Previous diesel shop, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in equipment maintenance and repair.
- Experience with engine systems, driveline systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and perform repetitive bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and standing during 8–12 hour shifts.
- Ability to work in industrial shop and field environments exposed to noise, vibration, grease, weather conditions, and moving mechanical equipment while wearing required PPE.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts, and temporary field assignments as operational needs require.
