About the Role

As a Skilled Mechanic, you will safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair tasks on heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire and track dozers, front-end loaders, and motor graders. This role operates under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and perform removal, repair, and installation of transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, final drives, and other heavy equipment systems or components.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on hydraulic, power train, and engine systems.
• Conduct welding tasks, including Carbon ARC, Plasma, MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
• Operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
• Maintain work orders, ensure a clean and safe work area, and perform work area inspections.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• One year of experience in heavy equipment mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read and use schematics.
• Knowledge of machine systems, including hydraulic, power train, and engines.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable) and demonstrate required aptitude, including passing a written assessment based on skills, abilities, academic knowledge, and safety.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
• Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment, including exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical risks, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
• Required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
• Physical demands include standing, sitting, manual dexterity, climbing stairs and ladders, working on elevated platforms, talking, hearing, seeing, and working in confined spaces. Occasionally required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and, as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, and gloves.
• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and all required training/testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.

Pay

The estimated pay range for this role is $26.00 - $33.00 per hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
