About the role
Midwest Bus Sales Inc is seeking skilled school bus technicians of all levels to join our team located in the Denver metro area. We are particularly interested in mobile and shop-based technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic diagnostics and repairs including vehicle inspections, and oil changes in a timely manner, ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines, and reliability goals are met.
- Ensure adherence to standard repair times (SRTs).
- Respond to emergency breakdowns during service calls.
- Conduct safety check inspections on vehicles.
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
- Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software.
- Review and assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Update job knowledge by participating in education opportunities and reading technical and regulatory publications.
- Bus experience is highly valued.
Requirements
- CDE Inspector Training
- Cummins Diesel, Detroit training, and school bus EV training among other courses.
- Must have initiative and the ability to follow through with instruction and daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
- Strong organizational skills, strong communications skills, basic computer skills, exceptional time management, and strong desire to meet deadlines.
- Must own tools required to complete assigned work.
- CDE Certification is a plus.
Qualifications
- Diesel engine repair experience: 1 year (preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (preferred)
Skills
- Basic mechanical skills on med/heavy duty trucks and buses
- Knowledge of methods, material, tools, and techniques used in vehicle repair and maintenance
- Use of power and hand tools
- Use of diagnostic equipment
- Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- Highly detail-oriented and organized in work
- Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, problem-solving, and results
