About the role

First Student is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in West Coxsackie, NY serving the Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. As a Technician at First Student, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety of the children who count on us for a ride to and from school in those classic yellow buses.

Pay & schedule

• $28.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications (NOT flat-rate)
• Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm full-time shift

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance to ensure our fleet of newer vehicles is safe for road travel
• Use diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues needing repair work
• Perform maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
• Complete work orders
• Assist with mobile emergency services

Requirements

• 3 years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
• Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL (we will train you for this)
• Mechanic's tool set
• Willingness to grow, learn, and develop skillset through ASE testing
• English proficiency required

• Mechanics and technicians are subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
