Diesel Mechanic
Martin Marietta is seeking a Mechanic to join the team at the Maple Grove Maintenance Facility, focusing on the safe and efficient repair of mobile equipment such as tractors/trailers, skid loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, and various industrial machinery. This is a union position requiring membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49.
Responsibilities
- Maximize equipment performance by performing repairs and ensuring timely preventative maintenance.
- Fabricate and repair processing and mobile equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Conduct DOT inspections for mobile equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including brakes, emission systems, fuel systems, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in training co-workers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role.
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing, and record-keeping.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge, and skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and elevated work areas.
- Proficiency with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.
- Adherence to MSHA & OSHA guidelines and plant safety rules.
- Class “A” Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver’s license.
- Prioritize safety, quality, and production in that order.
Work Environment
This role is based at the Maple Grove, Minnesota maintenance facility, with approximately 75% of the work conducted in a shop setting and 25% in the field or outdoors.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential overtime as needed.
Pay
The base salary rate for this position is $29.94 - $46.61 per hour.
