Essential Job Duties
- Perform DOT vehicle inspections and make repairs to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Estimate costs for labor and/or materials.
- Install vehicle parts and accessories.
- Repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
- Rebuild/Repair defective engines or engine components.
- Rebuild/Repair non-engine automotive or vehicle components.
- Routinely change tires on tractors and trailers, large commercial vehicles.
- Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning.
- Test mechanical systems for proper functioning.
- Operate a forklift.
- Record information about parts, materials, and/or repair procedures.
- Rotate weekly on-call after hours status with other mechanics.
- Other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience or equivalent education.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification desired.
- Ability to work on all vehicle systems and components as needed, including diesel engines.
- Familiar with mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Valid Class A CDL license, or willing to obtain one.
- Professional appearance and a positive attitude.
- Team player, honest, hardworking, and excellent attendance.
- Safe Driving Record.
- Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and submit to post-accident and random drug screens once employed.
- Basic Computer Skills.
Physical Requirements
- Able to work in indoor shop with varying temperatures, occasional outdoor work as needed.
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing to the top of a tanker.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
