About the role

Tyrone is an open‑pit copper mining complex in Grant County, New Mexico, about 10 miles south of Silver City. The facility operates a solvent extraction/electrowinning plant with a capacity of roughly 100 million pounds of copper per year. Silver City offers restaurants, arts, entertainment, cliff dwellings, festivals, and a climate with three hundred days of sunshine, low humidity, and gentle four‑season weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform tire maintenance and other mine support activities under limited supervision.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose tire and wheel issues; service tires, apply patches, plugs, stems, and make tire‑replacement decisions.
• Conduct tire and wheel failure analysis, including replacement, repair, and related fixes.
• Carry out preventative maintenance: monitor tire tread, wear, temperature, heat bubbles, and overall condition.
• Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, cranes, tire handlers, and front‑end loaders.
• Perform in‑field tire replacement on all rubberized equipment, observing hot‑tire safety procedures.
• Train other employees to safely complete tire repairs.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in tire repair, mechanical repair and maintenance, or a comparable combination of education and experience in industrial repair and maintenance.
