About the role

This is a remote, field-based position covering Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Upstate New York. Candidates should live near a major airport hub. The Diagnostic Specialist (DS) is a field-based leader responsible for educating healthcare providers on genetic testing initiatives and programs, establishing deep diagnostic expertise aligned with the global diagnostic strategy for the assigned U.S. region.

Responsibilities

  • Genotyping & Diagnostic Leadership
    • Educate healthcare providers on genetic testing to raise awareness of sponsored testing programs.
    • Identify educational needs within the Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) healthcare community.
    • Provide education on high-quality genetic labs, appropriate IRD gene panels, and accurate interpretation of results.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Compliantly partner with cross-functional teams within the client’s organization.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the U.S. diagnostic strategy.
  • Stakeholder Education, Training & Advocacy
    • Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with educational needs related to genetic testing and programs.
    • Attend conferences to stay informed about diagnostic programs and testing.
    • Participate in compliant advocacy, outreach, and engagement with local organizations.
    • Deliver high-quality education and provide insights to inform strategy.
    • Educate HCPs and internal partner labs for seamless sponsored testing utilization.
    • Provide resources for HCPs regarding follow-up questions from testing labs.
    • Offer expertise on IRD gene panels and best practices for test requisition forms.
    • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and inclusive behaviors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Expectations

  • Extensive travel required, including long distances via car, plane, or train.
  • Comfort working with modern electronic hardware and AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Co-pilot, ChatGPT, Grok).

Requirements

  • BA/BS required; healthcare degree strongly preferred (MS, RN, PA, PharmD, PhD).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in pharma/biotech, preferably in commercial, clinical/medical, or diagnostics.
  • Proven success working in high-performing, diverse teams.
  • Experience collaborating with KOLs, labs, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in rare or ultra-rare diseases with a strong patient focus preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and scientific acumen.
  • Strategic thinking and operational capability.
  • Ability to succeed in matrixed environments.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Cross-functional capability and strong ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology strongly preferred.

Pay

This role is eligible for hire in select U.S. locations based on business and operational considerations. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position within the U.S.
