About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract position for a DHH High School Teacher at Edmonds-Woodway High School starting in the 2026-27 school year.

Skills

  • Plan and provide communication, social, and academic instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) for both communication and instruction.
  • Develop and implement student goals and objectives based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Show proficiency in sign language, including versatility between ASL and PSE.
  • Have experience working in a DHH education setting, particularly in creating meaningful activities and interactions.
  • Possess an endorsement in Deaf Education and a preference for experience in Math or Science.

Required Qualifications

  • A Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education, or the ability to obtain one before the start date.
  • Graduate-level training from an approved program in Deaf Education.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and written English.

Salary

For the 2026-27 school year, the salary schedule ranges from $83,305 to $148,226, with the exact placement determined by FTE and verified educational level and work experience.

Physical Requirements/Demands

The physical demands of this job include navigating various school and classroom environments, assisting students who need physical support or exhibit challenging behaviors, and communicating with others regularly. Tasks may involve frequent manual work using hands or fingers, reaching, bending, or twisting, moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Visual requirements include performing close-range tasks and adjusting focus as necessary.
