About the role
The Senior ServiceNow Developer plays a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting solutions across the ServiceNow platform, including custom applications, workflows, integrations, automations, and AI-powered capabilities. Working closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Platform Administrators, QA teams, and other IT stakeholders, you will help deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that improve operational efficiency and support Banner’s mission of delivering high-quality patient care.
The team focuses on building and supporting employee-focused digital solutions that streamline workflows, improve service delivery, and enhance how Banner teams interact with technology. This role offers the opportunity to work with emerging technologies, contribute to enterprise-wide solutions, and continuously expand your ServiceNow expertise.
Responsibilities
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve services, processes, or products.
- Solve complex problems with a broad perspective, coordinating with others outside your work unit to identify innovative solutions.
- Anticipate customer needs, assess requirements, and identify new solutions.
- Design, develop, implement, and support ServiceNow solutions including custom applications, workflows, integrations, automations, and AI-powered capabilities.
- Split time between operational activities and improvements that deliver engineering solutions to enhance instrumentation, ease of deployment, service orchestration, and production support.
- Take responsibility for all aspects of application production support, deployment, and monitoring; develop tools to automate support activities.
- Ensure newly deployed systems/services integrate with existing monitoring and management tools for performance tracking and issue anticipation.
- Monitor and control costs of own work and may manage budgets for moderate-sized projects or programs.
- Mentor less experienced team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working knowledge (preferred but not required).
- 5–8 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow best practices and experience with ITSM, CMDB, Service Catalog, Flow Designer, integrations, and JavaScript development.
- Experience or interest in ServiceNow AI capabilities (e.g., Now Assist, Creator Plus).
- Seven plus years' work experience developing Enterprise Applications.
- Strong understanding of the full IT life-cycle and ability to take requests for infrastructure services, applications, and environments.
- Experience designing scalable solutions (monitoring, process orchestration, capacity management, deployment) that can be leveraged across the organization.
- Hands-on experience with Agile and DevOps development methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of programming and cloud technology.
- Medium-scale project planning experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to explain and resolve complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to communicate and interact across facilities and at various organizational levels.
- ServiceNow certifications are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud platform certifications: AZ-301, AZ-400, and AZ-500.
- Three to four years' experience implementing Enterprise Cloud Solutions.
- Significant development and operations/engineering experience with the ability to apply that knowledge to solve complex problems.
- Strong working knowledge of Java/C++/C#/.Net Core, hardware environment, and use of program logic.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Arizona time, with limited schedule flexibility. Variable shifts, hours, and on-call/pager responsibilities may be required.

Pay
Estimated pay range: $46.84 - $78.06 per hour. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity.
