DevOps Engineer

DevOps engineering requires a specific mix of development, engineering, and communication skills. As a DevOps engineer, you’ll help develop critical tools and get them into the hands of those who need them most.

About the role

At Booz Allen, you’ll help streamline the software development lifecycle, from requirements to monitoring in production. You’ll incorporate open-source tools, automation, and cloud resources to cut down on tedious tasks and free up the team’s developers to focus on creation. You’ll work with the team to implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to limit manual testing and troubleshooting. Responsibilities

• Automate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with tools like CloudFormation or Terraform
• Manage configuration using tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Collaborate with application development teams across the software development lifecycle
• Create solutions to complex problems in a team environment
• Work with containerization tools, including Kubernetes or Docker
• Script in languages such as Python and Linux Shell

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience automating CI/CD pipelines with tools, including Jenkins or GitLab
• 2+ years of experience automating infrastructure provisioning with tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform
• 2+ years of experience with configuration management tools
• Experience working with application development teams across the software development lifecycle
• Experience with containerization tools, including Kubernetes or Docker
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Linux Shell Script
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree
• Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II or IAT Level III Certification within 30 days of hire date

Nice to have

• Experience hosting applications on commercial cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Maven, Gradle, or NPM
• Knowledge of creating and improving continuous automation across multiple technical stacks
• Knowledge of triaging and resolving issues related to both open-source and commercial tools in public cloud environments

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD).

Work model expectations:

• Remote: Generally virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
• Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential customer site visits as needed.
• Onsite: Primary work location at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.

Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
