About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced DevOps Director to join our team at Air, a leading technology company supporting the defense and intelligence communities. In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping and driving our software delivery pipelines, testing frameworks, and infrastructure reliability. As a DevOps and QA Manager, you will lead a team of skilled DevOps and Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) through the entire software development and release lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineering and product teams to ensure highly reliable platform delivery for government customers.
- Lead and mentor a unified team of DevOps and SDETs, guiding them from test planning to deployment, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Organize and manage automation strategies, infrastructure scaling, and release schedules, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Establish CI/CD, security, and automated testing best practices and standards for the team.
- Develop, maintain, and scale cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and testing suites, ensuring they meet security and quality standards.
- Oversee the quality of technical deliverables, including infrastructure as code (IaC), test automation scripts, and system monitoring.
- Collaborate with Air's leadership to translate business requirements into infrastructure and testing specifications.
- Continuously seek innovation and process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency in environment provisioning and test execution.
- Work with forward-deployed engineers, software developers, and data scientists to improve platform security, quality, and performance.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, or Quality Assurance teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, JUnit).
- 5+ years of people management experience.
- Thorough understanding of microservice architectures, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven experience leading teams using an Agile development framework.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Desired Skills
- Current possession of a U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one with sponsorship.
- Experience in a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Hands-on experience with performance, load, and security testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and implementing security scanning in deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with Linux administration and shell scripting (Bash, Python).
This is a full-time position located in Pittsburgh, PA, with up to 25% travel required.
