Development Intern
Historic Oakland Foundation is seeking a qualified intern to contribute to our Development team during the fall 2026 semester. This part-time temporary position may require some nights and weekends, and academic credit can be arranged.
About the role
The internship spans a range of responsibilities in the Development department, including maintaining records, reporting, administrative communications, CRM data entry, researching partnership opportunities, recruiting for membership at special events and tabling events, and retention of the current membership base. College or graduate students studying English, Business, Communications, Data Analytics, Marketing, Public and/or Non-profit Administration are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist in general donor stewardship
- Help maintain and update CRM
- Assist with recording membership details and donations
- Support Development staff in organizing day-to-day and monthly communications with individual and corporate donors
- Assist Development staff in drafting materials for fundraising and stewardship
- Support event planning and coordination
- Recruit new members through tabling at internal and community events
- Conduct research projects, prospects, and initiatives for the Development team
- Perform general administrative duties, including mailing and data entry
- Focus on member retention through stewardship, including phone calls and emails
Requirements
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong research skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience working with databases a plus; Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information
- Hospitality and concierge-style skills a plus
- Networking skills and/or connections through Atlanta cultural spheres a plus
Schedule
16-week internship, target dates Monday, August 31 to Friday, December 18, with flexibility based on candidate’s semester. Part-time: 15 to 20 hours per week, with occasional weekend or evening work for events. In-person at Historic Oakland Foundation’s Visitor Center office; days of the week are flexible and to be determined in discussion with the Development Director.
Pay
$15 per hour
