About the role

The Development Engineer, Mechanics designs and develops plastic housings, covers, electronic connectors, gear transmission components and systems for commercial HVAC field devices using injection molded technologies. The role ensures product performance, quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability across the entire product lifecycle – from concept and feasibility through development, industrialization, series support, design changes, and end of life. The Development Engineer acts as a technical expert, assuming ownership of complex mechanical subsystems (e.g., critical housings or gear trains) and leading technical execution within development projects.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop injection‑molded plastic housings, covers, electronic connectors, and gear transmission components
  • Independently design mechanical components and assemblies (e.g., housings, covers, connectors, gears) and create production ready CAD and drawings using GD&T
  • Define materials, surface finishes, and manufacturing processes supporting functional, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Own mechanical design responsibility for key product components or subsystems (e.g., housing platform or gearbox family)
  • Drive design quality, robustness, and manufacturability; define verification plans and signoff on release packages
  • Lead mechanical workstreams within projects, planning deliverables, and aligning with project milestones
  • Coach junior engineers, support technical decision‑making and review their work products (CAD, drawings, analyses)
  • Coordinate testing, validation, and release activities for owned subsystems
  • Analyze test data, propose corrective actions, and contribute to risk mitigation
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, procurement, and quality teams
  • Improve development methods, tools, and workflows (e.g., standardization of design features, templates, and checklists)
  • Support standardization initiatives for plastics, gear elements, and design guidelines

Who You Are

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of mechanical product development, including significant exposure to injection molded components and gear transmissions
  • Advanced mechanical design and manufacturing knowledge; strong understanding of HVAC applications
  • Technical leadership skills without formal line authority; ability to drive projects with clearly defined technical guidelines
  • Strong willingness to learn
  • Structured and detail-oriented working style
  • Team-oriented, proactive attitude with good communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills; structured, proactive and results‑oriented; effective at coaching less‑experienced engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • German language skills are a plus

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including a full range of medical, financial, and other competitive benefits

Pay

  • Base pay range: $95,000–$115,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 15% of annual base salary
  • Compensation based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, education and experience
