Job Summary

The incumbent may work in Parsons, Emporia, or Baldwin, KS. We are seeking a Developing Markets Officer to cultivate new and service existing business relationships with producers starting, growing, or transitioning a farm, ranch, or agribusiness. This role is responsible for building a pipeline, developing business plans, and marketing all association products, with a focus on the young and beginning segment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sell and promote loan products to influencers, prospects, and customers; update prospect and influencer lists and maintain marketing and call planning information on customer contact software.
  • Develop and implement business plans to increase market share in the assigned customer segment.
  • Design innovative credit packages, advise customers on financial information, and competitively price loans based on risk and profitability.
  • Holistically market, cross-sell, and endorse all association's products and services.
  • Aid sales teammates focused on other customer segments to grow and expand market share.
  • Cultivate a professional presence and expertise within the assigned segment through collaboration with educational influencers, commodity groups, and networking with agricultural industry contacts.
  • Receive and investigate leads from various origination channels, teammates, and external sources.
  • Administer all products associated with young and beginning activities, new growth, and monitor existing loans in the region.

Credit Administration & Servicing

  • Identify and implement specific credit offerings and structures tailored to young and beginning customers and prospects.
  • Discuss credit packages with assigned analysts and participate in consensus decision-making process when appropriate.
  • Advise customers of loan decisions.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to the customer related to their financial position and future credit needs.
  • Service assigned portfolio including satisfying loan conditions/covenants, preparing customer loan service plans, and establishing and maintaining sound credit and loan administration.
  • Maintain and monitor loan performance on assigned portfolio, including completion, monitoring, and performance of loan servicing plans.
  • Provide regular and ongoing updates with regional leadership and credit teams relative to customer and portfolio progress.

Outreach and Education

  • Promote the young and beginning program to external industry influencers and educational influencers.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the region through effective engagement in various levels of public speaking and promotion.
  • Plan and facilitate financial workshops for the assigned portfolio, other customers, and prospects.
  • Participate in training, peer learning, and engage with retail leadership and others to increase consistency and efficiency in administering the young and beginning program.
  • Provide in-depth 1:1 coaching and counseling with customers to help develop financial and business acumen, including training customers on Association-provided tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Accounting, Finance, Agriculture Economics, Education, Marketing, or Business Administration or a closely related field. Six (6) plus years of lending/credit analysis experience, including experience in the full economic cycle of agriculture, with the Farm Credit System or a related agricultural credit organization. Prefer a minimum of five (5) years of relationship management and/or sales experience.
