Detroit – Mid-Level Employment Litigation Associate

About the role

The Detroit office of Fisher Phillips is seeking a Mid-Level Employment Litigation Associate with 3‑5 years of litigation experience to join its growing team. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in litigation and the ability to manage substantive case responsibilities with increasing independence, working closely with experienced partners while taking a lead role in case strategy, client communications, discovery, motion practice, and other meaningful client‑facing work. The firm values attorneys who embrace modern tools and forward‑thinking approaches to enhance efficiency and client service.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and responding to pleadings
• Managing written and electronic discovery, including e‑discovery strategy
• Drafting and arguing dispositive and non‑dispositive motions
• Taking and defending depositions
• Participating in mediations

Qualifications

• Admission to the Michigan Bar is required
• 3‑5 years of litigation experience
• Strong foundation in litigation
• Excellent academic credentials
• Advanced writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast‑paced environment
• Collaborative mindset, empathy for teammates, and strong commitment to client service
• Prior employment law experience is preferred; interest in developing an employment law practice and contributing to firm growth is valued
