Detroit Experience Studio (Volunteer Application)

About the role

Detroit Experience Studio is an immersive program where students are taught the fundamental aspects of working in a creative agency. To make each cohort successful, the program relies on volunteers to support students both directly and indirectly.

Volunteer Needs

• Youth Educator (lead and teach a class in your subject matter expertise area)
• Rotating Mentor (support a group of DES students throughout the cohort)
• Class Support (assist DES staff to manage and support student and classroom needs)
• Event Support (prep and/or day-of support for DES events)

Requirements

• Available to volunteer for the required time period
• Able to attend in-person unless remote support is an option
• Complete additional background checks
• Complete necessary training to work with and support students

Schedule

• Summer Workshops run between July 2026 and August 2026
• Fall 2026 Cohort runs October 2026 – January 2027
• Applications must be submitted by September 2026 to participate in the fall cohort
• Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 pm
• Volunteers are responsible for transportation to and from The Marquette Building
• Meals will be provided for all in-class volunteers
