DETENTION OFFICER

About the role

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated individuals to join the front line of justice as Detention Officers. This role involves maintaining safety, order, and dignity within detention facilities, supporting rehabilitation and reentry efforts, and ensuring the health and welfare of inmates.

Responsibilities

• Enforces rules and regulations of the jail
• Maintain safety and security of the facility and staff
• Receive and process incoming inmates
• Monitor inmate activities and conduct medical/sick call
• Ensure security of the facility through periodic checks and searches
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid
• Conduct release procedures and oversee cleaning
• Communicate with inmates, staff, and the public
• Mediate disputes and counsel inmates
• Process and maintain records
• Operate and maintain law enforcement equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 20 years of age
• Pass background checks and physical assessments
• Valid Georgia driver's license
• Basic Jail Officer Certification and CPR/First Aid
• Ability to pass a psychological profile test
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must not have a criminal record
• Must be able to pass a physical fitness/agility test

Pay

$10,000 sign-on bonus, $1,200 transportation allowance, and competitive salary.

Schedule

Shift work schedule with rotating shifts.
