Detention Home Shift Supervisor

Duties

• Planner, coordinator, and implementer of detention home operations, services, and activities.
• Manager of a team of ten full-time Youth Counselors.
• Maintains performance and evaluates staff through ongoing and annual evaluations.
• Schedules staff, ensuring appropriate coverage.
• Manages and responds to crisis situations including physical restraints, medical emergencies, and mental health incidents.
• Ensures adherence to facility and County policies and procedures.
• Engages with detention residents through administrative visits and disciplinary hearings.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field and two years of experience working with youth in a detention home.
• Two years of experience working with youth in a detention home or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Qualifications

• Satisfactorily passed a physical examination and tuberculin test.
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
• Records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
• Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview.
