What you’ll be responsible for
- Conduct investigations regarding theft, liability claims, robberies, burglaries, employee policy violations, missing and misappropriated funds as well as other activities that would result in a loss to the company.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement and fire and rescue services.
- Participate as required in the resolution of personnel action where security violations are involved including but not limited to: assistance at terminations, prosecutions, civil lawsuits, unemployment hearings and similar actions.
- Ensure the integrity of all casino procedures at the same time preventing exposure for liabilities and/or actions that may result in a potential loss due to any known or anticipated risks.
- Reviews, approves and signs all accident reports and Security incident reports in the absence of the Security Lieutenant.
- If a Security Sergeant is part of the Rapid Response Team, they will be responsible for being a first responder to emergency situations with the ability to use armed force when justified as necessary.
- Must successfully pass the Rapid Response Team Basic Academy and maintain the necessary certifications to remain a part of the RRT.

- Reports unsafe working conditions, takes safety precautions, and reports injuries promptly to supervisor or manager.
- Participates in and fully completes all required safety training.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and two years related experience and/or training.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs, lift a 37-pound birdcage up to 36 inches in height and over a 12-inch barrier using 1 or 2 hands and then sitting it back down.
- Must be able to physically defend his/her self as well as the patrons and employees of Prairie Meadows.
- If engaged on Rapid Response Team - Must be able to successfully pass the annual defensive tactics course.
- Must successfully qualify with all required weapons.
- Conviction of any felony offense will be an automatic disqualification.
- Must meet suitability standards as approved by the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission (including suitability, physical/mental qualifications & weapons qualifications).
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
