Job Overview

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck Dealership and Leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Body Shop Foreman. The role of the Body Shop Foreman is to exercise supervision of Body and Paint Shop personnel and assist them when necessary. Actively seek wreck repair business so that sales and profit objectives may be achieved. Assist Body Shop Manager in writing repair orders, writing estimates and closing repair orders when jobs are completed. Assigns work directly to hourly personnel, regulates work schedule in accordance with quality and quantity of the Company. Checks and reviews work in process and follows-up for completion as scheduled. Works with the Body Shop Manager in setting sales and gross profit objectives which are realistic and attainable. Writes estimates on all wrecks, locally and out of town, when necessary. Maintains company service tools and equipment and makes sure they are used properly. Reviews all Body Shop repair orders making sure everything is complete and the total repair is in accordance with the original estimate and any supplemental work accomplished is properly added. Inspects and, if necessary, road tests vehicles upon completion of work. Promotes safe work habits. Reports any safety and security violations to the Body Shop Manager. Keeps the Warranty Manager advised of all warranty in process. Assures that all necessary information pertaining to warranty and policy claims are obtained and recorded on the repair order, and that all warranty parts are properly tagged and placed in the warranty room. Informs Body Shop Manager of all customer complaints so they may be handled before the vehicle leaves the shop. Pre-plans parts requirements. Develops good relations with customers, adjusters, and insurance companies. Maintains a high quality of work so that a good reputation can be developed. Provides proper housekeeping of the Body Shop area and overall branch appearance. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Aids Body Shop Manager in writing repair orders, estimates, and closing orders.
  • Assigns work to hourly personnel and regulates schedules based on quality and quantity.
  • Checks and reviews work in progress and ensures timely completion.
  • Works with Body Shop Manager to set sales and profit goals.
  • Writes estimates for wrecks, both local and out-of-town.
  • Maintains company service tools and equipment, ensuring proper usage.
  • Reviews repair orders to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Inspects and, if necessary, road tests completed vehicles.
  • Promotes safe work practices and reports safety and security issues.
  • Keeps the Warranty Manager informed about warranty processes.
  • Informs Body Shop Manager of customer complaints and handles them promptly.
  • Pre-plans parts requirements and develops positive customer relations.
  • Maintains a high-quality work standard to build a good reputation.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping and maintains a clean, professional appearance.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two-year technical school or equivalent experience in body work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • CDL license preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
