Location: Durham, NC Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours/week (2-3 days onsite) Pay: $30-$33/hour Contract: 6-12 months with strong potential for extension About The Opportunity We're looking for an early-career Desktop Support Technician to join a research-focused environment supporting scientists, researchers, and laboratory staff. This is a great opportunity for someone with help desk, desktop support, or IT support experience who wants to gain hands-on exposure to laboratory technology, scientific applications, and research systems. What You'll Do Provide onsite help-desk technical support to laboratory and research staff.Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, printer, and connectivity issues.Support Windows, macOS, and Linux workstations.Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, peripherals, and software.Assist with setup and support of laboratory instruments and scientific workstations.Help maintain user accounts, system updates, and routine IT maintenance tasks.Support business and research applications used by laboratory personnel.Assist with inventory tracking, asset management, and documentation.Perform basic data backup and recovery activities.Provide excellent customer service and end-user training when needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.1-2 years experience supporting Windows and macOS environments.Exposure to laboratory, healthcare, research, or lab environmentsStrong troubleshooting and customer support skills. ***This job description is a complete list of all desired skills but not all are required.
