Desktop Support -IV

About the role

Desktop Support -IV position located in Madison, WI (53703) on a 9‑month contract. The role requires frequent travel throughout Wisconsin with overnight stays and the ability to use a personal vehicle for off‑site work.

Responsibilities

• Set up computers, related peripherals and audio/visual equipment.
• Maintain computer equipment in courtrooms, offices, desks and central server areas.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and professional customer service.
• Implement infrastructure hardware, address technical emergencies and enforce cyber‑security policies.
• Travel statewide to install and maintain computing equipment, including overnight stays.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in computer science, computer technician, or related field.
• Experience providing phone‑based technical support.
• Experience in computer hardware and software support and maintenance.
• Experience installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting computers, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the state with overnights.
• Must be insured through the supplier for personal vehicle use.

Skills

• Knowledge of computer operating systems and hardware.
• Skill in maintaining computer equipment and providing professional customer service.
• Skill in verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of local and wide area networking.
• Ability to implement infrastructure hardware, address technical emergencies and implement cyber‑security policies.
• Proven ability to install, configure, repair and maintain computer hardware.
• Nice‑to‑have: experience/training with audio/visual technologies, Windows Server, Remote Desktop Services, Active Directory & Group Policy, LANs, digital audio recording equipment, and user account management in Active Directory.

Benefits

• Mileage reimbursed at $0.51 per mile for travel from normal place of work to off‑site locations and return when using a personal vehicle.
• Insurance coverage required through the supplier.

Schedule

• Contract duration: 9 months, with an end date of 06/30/2027 and potential for extension.
• Extensive travel required (25‑50% of the time); when not traveling, work is onsite in Madison.
• Candidates must be current Wisconsin residents; no relocation is allowed.
