Desktop Support

About the role

The McKay Group is a global leader in low-latency market data and network connectivity, operating at the intersection of high-frequency finance and cutting-edge technology. This full-time onsite position at the US headquarters in Oakland, California reports directly to the IT/Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support related to staff desktop and facilities needs
• Use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini in administrative tasks
• Install new hardware components for desktops
• Install operating systems and software on desktops
• Set up network connections to desktops
• Maintain support documentation and training
• Train, debug, and support use of productivity software, including cloud-based enterprise and individual client-level software
• Track efforts through the ticketing system (Jira), including ticket creation, follow-up, documentation, and closing completed tasks
• Remote field operations support
• Facilities management (moves, desks, chairs, power, etc.), requiring physical demands including bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Requirements

• 4-year degree with some hardware/OS experience or 3-5 years of work experience
• Prior experience in a desktop support role and/or Microsoft certification
• Experience with Windows, Apple, Android, and Linux (limited) operating systems; ability to learn others quickly
• Prior experience with cloud administrative interfaces and settings (Google, Microsoft, and other cloud environments)
• Experience with Jira or other ticketing systems
• Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starting mindset toward all duties
• Systematic problem-solving approach and excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini

Pay

The Oakland, CA base salary range for this full-time non-exempt position is $70,000–$90,000. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
