BIW is hiring Desktop Publishers at the following levels:
- 2nd Class Designer: $29.34/Hr. - $31.51/Hr.
- 3rd Class Designer: $26.75/Hr. - $28.39/Hr.
About the role
The successful candidate will join the Technical Publications group as part of BIW’s Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) organization as a Desktop Publisher. The primary focus of this group is the development and submittal of the US Navy Technical Manual products required by our contracts.
Responsibilities
- Review the format of US Navy technical manual products to ensure adherence to contract requirements.
- Utilize desktop publishing software to produce new and revised US Navy technical manuals.
- Prepare and submit Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) data items.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a government security clearance, including an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files, or an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts & Design is required.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Above average familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to strictly adhere to product schedules.
Qualifications
- 2nd Class: Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files.
- 3rd Class: Minimum of one (1) year of practical experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and/or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files, or an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts & Design.
