About the role
CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Electronic Distribution Designer in our Houston or the Woodlands, Texas office.
Responsibilities
- Apply the client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures and/or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.
- Create manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature, cost estimates, and bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.
- Assist in performing load studies on distribution circuits and transformers; investigate circuit reliability and voltage issues to determine necessary corrective action.
- Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
- Utilize client and Company information systems to track and update design activities.
- Acquire field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design.
- Handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities.
- Field verify equipment and mark/stake new facilities.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Independently research and adapt to changing priorities.
- Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product.
- Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV).
- Prior utility design experience or distribution line work would be highly preferred.
- Possess knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems, subdivisions, industrial complexes, data centers, and dual power feeds.
- Associate degree in electrical technology or related field from an accredited college or university. Other education and work experience may be considered acceptable for this position.
- Possess experience in creating construction drawings for electric distribution design.
- Knowledge of permits required for electric distribution installations.
- Working knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in one or more of the following areas: Utility Electrical Engineering, and electric utility construction.
- Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD.
- Experience in DDS, SAP, G-Viewer is a plus.
- Experience in ArcFM, GDT, DDS, or AutoCAD AUD is a plus.

Schedule
This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime.
