Designer, Piping

About the role

Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United) seeks an enthusiastic piping designer to join our team at DTE Fermi Power Plant in Newport, MI. The ideal candidate will support power generation and heavy industrial projects, designing medium to complex mechanical/piping systems.

Responsibilities

• Design medium to complex mechanical/piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.
• Prepare drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
• Develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plans, and piping orthographic and isometric drawings.
• Understand the purpose and use of vendor documents and review mechanical supplier documents for accuracy.
• Coordinate mechanical/piping design activities and work with other discipline groups.

Requirements

• Associate degree in piping design (technical field) or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience beyond associate degree in powerplant piping and support design.
• Proficiency with AutoDesk Plant3D, P&ID, and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required due to eligibility and security clearance requirements for nuclear facility access.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of engineering design processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
