Designer II Electrical

Responsibilities

• Understand and develop wiring diagrams, connection diagrams, one-line/three-line diagrams, schematic/elementary diagrams, logic diagrams and conduit/raceway diagrams.
• Produce complex 2D engineering drawings.
• Check drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria.
• Participate in field walk downs as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations.
• Communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
• Interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards.

Requirements

• Education: Associates degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of electrical and controls systems.
• Experience: 5 years (minimum) of experience in engineering drafting and electrical design practices in addition to the education requirements.
• Other Required Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments; proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages and Microsoft Office software; demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes, and standards applicable to electrical/I&C systems; working knowledge of electrical design principles and practices and a working knowledge of Wiring Diagrams; effective time management skills; ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear plant access.

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge or use of Raster Design or 3D modeling experience; ability to utilize various drafting and CADD techniques as required for project requirements; additional certifications and/or courses in basic electronics and/or electrical systems; recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on nuclear power plant projects.
